It is a half day procedure. On the morning of your procedure, you will be asked to report to the day ward and fast for 6 hours. Direct coronary angiography takes only 30 to 45 minutes. If the results are correct, you will be discharged home after 4-6 hours in the day ward. If stenting (nets) is performed, you will need to stay one night in the intensive care unit and stay one day in the general ward (if necessary). It's not practical. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. You may be given a mild sedative if you feel anxious. The catheter is painless. Pain, if any, is usually minimal. The initial injection of local anesthetic into the skin can be somewhat uncomfortable, but the subsequent insertion of the diagnostic catheter should cause no more than slight discomfort and no pain. .
